Rising From the Ashes
Everest Sets 3 Month Rehabilitation Plan

March 4, 2010 was an unforgettable day for all Everest employees and members.  Our Research and Development Building along with our Auto Storage House burned to the ground in a violent fire.  Luckily no one was injured or hurt.  Everest Textile would like to express its gratitude for the help and support of the fire fighters who contained the fire and our clients and partners for their support.  Everest has set an ambitious three month time frame to rebuild these facilities with the goal of creating a bigger, more robust and competitive ECO enterprise.

「The power of Response, Recovery and Reunion」is the spirit of the Everest  Rehabilitation Plan. Specifically, under CEO Roger Yeh‘s leadership, the orders of April can be fulfilled on time. The Research and Development facilities, lamination and coating machines destroyed by the fire have already been purchased in entirely new and upgraded versions.  In collaboration with Dr. Lin, Professor of Green Building and the MCA Architecture Corporation, the re-build blueprint of「Everest Sustainable Innovation Building」has been completed under the green building guidelines, the original building will be improved upon, enlarged and rearranged. The Auto Storage House will not be reconstructed, only the spaces for product turnover will be reserved.  The heaviest coating machines will be placed on the first floor to better manage water, electricity and heat resources which will reduce costs and further ensure environmental safety. The lighter lamination machines will be on the second floor and the ETRC (Everest Technology Reach Center) will be located there as well. The third floor is the Connection and Development office and the sampling factory. The open roof will be mapped out for an innovative nursery to hold over 2700 square meters to cultivate various fruits and vegetables to share with Everest employees and the community to further make the factory more environmentally friendly and to give back to the community. In the future, the Everest Sustainable Innovation Building will become a benchmark for sustainable buildings and part of Everest’s legacy.  This building will also be used for educational purposes and co-sharing among other enterprises and society at large.

Everest’s CEO Roger Yeh said “Using this as a valuable lesson, we will demonstrate even more consideration with respect to industrial safety and care for our employees and customers as we devote our efforts towards Corporate Social Responsibility. We are doing our best to make up for this terrible loss to generate greater profits for our shareholders. Hopefully, we would gain the trust from clients and the society soon by sustainable management.”

While the terrible fire accident on March 4th was a big blow for Everest, we will not be defeated. Rather, it has strengthened our resolve and employee relationships. Everest textile sees this accident as an opportunity, an opportunity to demonstrate the quickness of our response, the strength of our recovery and the team work of our employees. Everest will emerge as a stronger ECO enterprise and a green phoenix from the ashes.
