There was a fire at Everest Textile, the expert of disruptive innovation of textile industry, on March 4, 2010. Everest's R&D building and automatic warehouse were burnt down in the fire incident. Everest follows the principles of “Green Building” and “Appropriate Technology” with love to the Earth to rebuild and reset the equipments for production & R&D within three months. The building is named “Sustainable Innovation Building” and will officially open on June 4,2010. Everest would like to appreciate support and effort from several parties during the fire incident and processes of reconstruction, and announce the spirit from the fire. Everest will concentrate on corporate social responsibility and sustainability to reward all shareholders and stakeholders.

CEO of Everest Textile, Mr. Roger Yeh, always believes in: “ If you dare to try, nothing is impossible. If you thought you were right, just do it.” Mr. Yeh indicated: “We should attribute such a quick recovery from disaster to our employees. They thoroughly developed the spirit of Everest, never give up and challenge limit. I also would like to express my sincere appreciation to our customers, business associates, the community, suppliers and subcontractors. Without their support and help, we would not be able to complete such a difficult task.
“The task of recovery completely showed the vitality of Taiwanese society. It let us see the enthusiasm and vigor of local community, the spirit of charity and poem of endeavor. Every member joined and witnessed the task would have a lifetime unforgettable memory about the infinite potentiality of human being.” said Teddy Huang, manager of Everest Research Technology Center.

Adopt “Appropriate Technology” to quickly rebuild a sustainable, eco-friendly, energy-saving and safe “Sustainable Innovation Building”.
The Sustainable Innovation Building follows the Green Building engineering that is planned by Green Building expert, National Cheng-Kung university professor Lin Hsien-te. The damaged structures of original building are reinforced by carbon fiber, steel and epoxy resin. The walls are made of lightweight, fire-retardant and eco-friendly materials that provide a soundproof, heat-insulation and energy-saving working environment. The building is equipped with water curtains that replace air conditioners. The eco-friendly T5 light tubes can effectively save electricity. In terms of hardware infrastructure, we implement 7R discipline (rethink, redesign, reduce, reuse, repair, recycle, recovery) to reduce consumption of energy. The building is designed based on “Appropriate Technology” that conforms to principle of prudence. The outer walls and patricians adopt C type light steel frames and are quickly built by dry eco-engineering. As for something repairable, we just fix and reuse them. Regarding the burnt R&D facilities and machines, we relocate them with upgraded versions to utilize their new functions. In the new “Sustainable Innovation Building”, there are testing equipments for Everest Technology Research Center, Connecting & Developing Department to do samples and to test run of volume production. The relocated coating, lamination and finishing machines can better pipeline water, electricity, air and heat. They offer not only cost saving but also safety. All facilities are running smoothly now.
